Troubleshooting
Resolve permission, clipboard, protected content, and display issues.
Permission not showing
Open ShutterDock once, start a capture, then return to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen & System Audio Recording.
Clipboard did not update
Try a second capture and confirm the destination app accepts image paste from the clipboard.
Black screenshot
Some protected video, banking, or DRM surfaces intentionally block capture at the system level.
Recording stops at 90 seconds
Free recordings stop and save after 90 seconds. ShutterDock Pro unlocks unlimited recording. If Pro purchase or entitlement data cannot be loaded, ShutterDock defaults to the free limit so recording stays usable.
Microphone is unavailable
Check System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and confirm ShutterDock is enabled. If no input device is connected, ShutterDock will keep recording usable without microphone audio.
System audio is disabled
System audio requires a supported macOS version, Screen Recording permission, and ShutterDock Pro. If your Mac or macOS version does not support ScreenCaptureKit system audio, ShutterDock disables the control with an explanation.
Recording file actions do not work
Recordings are saved locally as MP4 files. If Preview, Reveal in Finder, copy, drag, path copy, or delete does not work, confirm the file still exists in recent recording history and try recording a new short clip.
External display issue
Reconnect the display, check macOS display arrangement, and try capturing a smaller region on the affected display.
